Restaurant: Ramen Brothers

When I was on my way to CROSSFAITH in Haarlem I noticed a small shop called Ramen Brothers located in Haarlem, at that time I didn’t have the chance to go and have a bite to eat however and I promised myself I’d be back soon enough and would have enough time to visit. Which I did when I went to the LOVEBITES concert last month. I was excited all day because I had been craving some Japanese food all day. It’s just a short walk from the station and I really enjoy the location and the small size of the restaurant. It feels intimate with just a couple of tables and there were already a couple of people sitting and chatting with each other, I got assigned a seat and grabbed the small menu to pick out what I wanted.

Rating (out of 5 stars)
Interior: ★★★★☆
Staff: ★★★☆☆
Food: ★★☆☆☆
Price: ★★★☆☆

The staff was nice, they greeted me warmly and were quick to get me a menu and a drink, There isn’t much I can say about it. I liked that they only a few dishes and on the back of the menu they had a “How to eat Ramen”. The prices aren’t really high either so that’s fine.

I ordered Karaage and Tsukemen noodles. Karaage is fried chicken, Tsukemen is a cold noodle that you dip in hot broth. My Karaage came quite quick, they were good and so was the sauce. Served with iceberg lettuce, which was frozen..

More people came in and I noticed, at least two people got their food and paid and left before I did. I waited for nearly 30 minutes before my dish arrived. I was on a time crunch because I had to go to the concert so I wasn’t really happy about that but I tried to keep my positivity.

My noodles were on the hard side and my soup was lukewarm… Like I stated, since I’d already been waiting I couldn’t afford to lose more time and ask them for something better. My soup had a nice tasting egg and some good meat in it that were pretty tasty but overall I wasn’t impressed. I didn’t feel satisfied when I left, it was a cold evening and maybe I just made a bad choice in ordering Tsukemen. I want to give them another try when I am back in Haarlem but I wouldn’t really recommend them at this time.

The staff was nice when I dropped some stuff and I felt like the boss and waiter really did their best getting the food out, they even walked me out and it makes me feel bad for writing a bad review.. But my food was cold!

I will go back and eat at Ramen Brothers, please feed me well next time!
