Food Restaurant Review South Korea

Since the opening of Mannam in November of 2019, I have visited Mannam twice. I had been wanting to write a review after my first visit, however, there was so much food I still wanted to try, I decided to have another go at it, before writing this review. So, without further ado, here is my review of Mannam.

The Restaurant
When you enter the restaurant, the first thing you notice is that it is quite spacious, even though there are many tables. Both times I have visited it was quite busy, which created a very nice atmosphere. The restaurant has some nice murals, and all the decorations make you feel like you could be in Korea.

The Menu
The menu is quite extensive and has a little bit of everything. When I visited the restaurant the first time we decided to try one of my favorite Korean dishes, dakgalbi, which is a spicy vegetable and chicken dish, with buchujeon (a chives pancake) and japchae (a noodles dish with beef and vegetables). Their dakgalbi was nice and spicy, transporting me to a world of spiciness, as I had overestimated my tolerance of spicy food. As someone who regularly eats spicy, I could really appreciate this, however, if you are not great with spicy food, I would recommend avoiding this dish.

The second time I visited I came especially for their KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). Seeing the delicious pictures on their Instagram page I could not wait any longer and went there on Valentine’s day. I know… Fried Chicken on Valentines, how romantic… But the fried chicken was amazing. We ordered the spicy one (which for me could have been spicier), and the soy garlic chicken. Both were very tasty, and not overly saucy.

The Verdict:
(Rated out of 5)
Food ★★★★★
A nice range of food. Everything tastes very authentic. A very nice variety of foods, so there is something for everyone.

Vegetarian-Friendly ★★★★☆
Though the restaurant serves many dishes containing meat or seafood, they also have a nice vegetarian selection, making a great restaurant to bring your vegetarian friend to.

Drinks ★★★★☆
The restaurant serves a variety of soft drinks, but also different Korean alcoholic beverages and some Soju based cocktails, besides the regular beers and wine.

Staff ★★★★★
The staff at Mannam was super kind and helpful. They can give you great advice when you do not know what dish to pick from their delicious menu.

Accessibility ★★★★☆
The restaurant is easily reachable by public transport (train, bus or metro) or by car. The restaurant is big and has a level floor, making it easily accessible for those who are less mobile.

Price ★★★★☆
Though at first sight, the prices might seem a little high, what you get in return is so worth it. The food tastes amazing, there is loads of attention to detail when it comes to presentation and the flavors.

If you are looking for a quick, cheap dinner this restaurant might not be for you, but if you want to experience truly authentic-tasting Korean food this is the place to be.
