Even though storm Cairan hit The Netherlands in full force last Thursday it didn’t deter toMoons to travel down to Tilburg (or up or sideways depending where they came from, I spotted some German and Belgian fans too); even a day or two in advance because I heard once again that some fans slept at the venue to make sure they had first row no matter what. I carefully made my way towards Tilburg and tried to not get blown of the road on my way there the evening of however, when I came out of the parking garage there was already quite the row of people waiting in front of 013 poppodium. I went over to Dadawan to get some food first because I’d come from work and was starving. Check out this restaurant because it’s great.
The doors to the ONEUS concert opened twice; at 6 to 6.30 to VIP fans who had bought a ticket for the soundcheck and Hitouch event then at 7 PM for the regular visitors. I got my band and press card and went right up to the tier 1 (VIP) place and watched people file into the venue. Everyone already hyping up their friends that were more into the back or more into the front. There is a lot you can say about Kpop fans but they’re very nice and respectful to others. (Not all the time don’t get me wrong. FANDOM wars are no joke). There was a girl with a banner that said it was her birthday and a lot of people started singing happy birthday to her as we were waiting.
When the time was there the lights all went off and everyone was screaming, lightsticks came up and waved around happily. The theme was the color blue and so were all the lightsticks; it’s always great to see even if by half the show the waving lights are already giving me a headache. Later on with the first talk ONEUS talked about how they were also spotting a lot of toMoon dressed in blue and made jokes about blue make up and blue socks. ONEUS in one word is amazing on stage, their dances are strong and their voices are beautiful. I’ll be honest again and tell on myself to let everyone know I’m no longer as invested in KPOP as I used to be and 9 out of 10 times I’m completely out of the loop with artists; no matter how hard I try to keep checking out artists to add to my spotify car jams.
There were some moments in the show where they showed a video of the guys while they went off stage and changed clothes and took some time to breath this happened twice and the interval was about 5 to 10 minutes. It felt long the first time but I decided to go out and buy some merchandise the second time. You could hear people scream each time their favorite member showed on the screen.
All in all the show was really good, it was clear to me that there was a lot of backing/light playback because the guys were dancing really hard and whenever the song would end you could hear the guys absolutely pant into the microphone. ONEUS perfomance is high energy and sexy, a lot of body rolls and it was to no surprise when Leedo took off his shirt to perfom in tanktop that most of the crowd was going wild for his strong arms. Each member of course has their own charm and all of them got time to show it.
In between songs they would talk to the crowd and play around, introducing their next song, talk about their trip or just having fun with the members. When during Lion Heart a microphone died, one of the members had a fun time running around and creating the wave in the crowd.
To showcase their unique voices they also performed a couple of songs while sitting down; telling the fans that they had indeed had amazing voices even if they couldn’t display it in the high intensity dancing. Absolutely beautiful angelic voices that fit so well together. It was nice to hear Halley’s comet with so much feeling.
ONEUS is a artist you should see whenever you can; stop sleeping on them if you are. They are AMAZING.
Something I also really enjoyed was the fact that normally the background dancers are just that, in the background and they don’t really stand out. I felt like the back up dancers for ONEUS were just as much part of the group as the others and I enjoyed watching them just as much.
